The Lord Jesus Christ said in scripture, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” John 14: 27. This is something to shout about! You must understand that the Lord has given you His peace. He gave you His peace not as the world gives its peace. That peace is inside your spirit, you have to stir up from within.  

What Does The Bible Say About Peace?

According to the Bible, it is only God that gives lasting peace. If you must enjoy peace with prosperity, only God can give you that. In this world you will encounter situations that will threaten you peace but if your peace is from the Lord and not the world, you will remain standing.

I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take courage; I have overcome the world!” John 16: 33.

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” Philippians 4: 7

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, for to this you were called as members of one body. And be thankful.” Colossians 3: 15

For God has not given us a spirit of timidity but of power, love, and self-control.” 2 Timothy 1: 7

I want you to understand that God has not left us aloof; He is concern about our peace. He wants us to be strengthened both for the work He has given us and for our lives in general. Inner peace can only be from God who is the author of peace. If you must live in rest and fulfillment; shielded from the scotches and turbulent of the harsh realities of the days we live in, God must be your anchor. True peace and unity are intertwined; one cannot exist outside of the other. Where there is peace, it is easy for the folks to live in unity. In other words, unity in a place is a sign of peace among the people there. There cannot be peace in a family or among friends if there is no unity. If there is no unity, there would not be peace as well. When you seek peace you also seek unity.

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity” Psalm 133: 1

Scriptures On Peace In The Land

Do you know that you are the one responsible for the peace in your land? Sure you are. If you do not pray for the peace of your city or country, you will suffer the consequences of lack of peace. Remember that the Lord Jesus Christ said you are the salt of the earth. That means you are the one to preserve your city, state or country. You do so in the place of prayer for the peace and prosperity of where you live and work.

And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the LORD for it; for in its peace you will have peace” Jeremiah 29: 7

You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men” Matthew 5: 13

First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be offered on behalf of all men. For kings and all those in authority, so that we may lead tranquil and quiet lives in all godliness and dignity” 1 Timothy 2: 1 – 2

Peace Bible Study

The Word of God that you do not know will not work for you. It is the Word that you have in your spirit that you can war with, in the time of trouble. If you must enjoy the peace of God that surpasses all human comprehension, develop a Bible study habit. I am not talking about ‘a search engine Bible study’ but a devoted time of studying and meditating of the Word of God as you read your Bible.

Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief” Hebrews 4: 11

Study to show yourself approved to God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” 2 Timothy 2: 15

Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so” Acts 17: 11
