Day 3: Dark But Lovely

As we mature in the Lord, we learn more of the spiritual darkness the Lord is sanctifying us from. He loves us in the midst of our spiritual immaturities and weakness. He knew our weaknesses before He died for us. His love for us never changes as we mature in loving Him.

Meditative Scriptures

  1. Song 1:5-6
  2. Eph. 4:22
  3. 1 Tim. 1:15
  4. 2 Cor. 5:17-21
  5. Ps. 51:12
  6. 1 Sam. 16:7
  7. Mt. 26:41
  8. Jn. 21:15-17

Application

  1. What does being “dark” spiritually mean? What does being “lovely” to God mean?
  2. Explain the difference between Jesus loving us in our spiritual immaturities and the Father lovingly disciplining us when we sin.
  3. Watch “The Paradox of Grace: Dark but Lovely” by Mike Bickle. Explain what you learned. How would you apply it to your life?
  4. Describe another “word picture” of the spiritual phrase “dark but lovely”. Share it with someone. Did they understand? How does your “word picture” reveal biblical principles?
