Day 13: Poor in Spirit

Being “poor in spirit” means seeing our deep need to be helped by God in light of how much God wants to give us. This virtue starts with the awareness of our need to of salvation and continues through our spiritual life. Being “poor in spirit” is key in keeping our First Love.

Application

1. Describe a time when you could not move forward in your own strength and you needed God to help you. How can you regularly apply what you learned in this experience?
2. Explain the difference between being “poor in spirit” and self-sufficient. On a scale of 10 being the most “poor in spirit” where would you rate yourself? How can you grow?
3. Explain how “poor in spirit,” “hungering for righteousness,” “fragrance of God,” and “First Love” all relate to each other. Compare your life to these spiritual realities.
4. Explain how we can be fully content in God but always longing for more of Him. Give a real life example of what you just explained.
